The Kingdom Cut & Thrust Marshal (Estaban Ferreiro) has provided us with a copy of the new Cut and Thrust Rules draft. Please read the rules and address any comments to him (you can also post in this forum thread about them).
The Kingdom Rapier Marshal (Luther Magnus) has provided us with a copy of the new rules draft. Please read the new rules and provide your feedback to him. You are, of course, also welcome to discuss the rules in this forum thread.
House Fine Lames will be hosting a rapier mixer on the Saturday evening at May Crown. If you attend the event, please feel free to drop by Saturday evening. Relevant Forum Thread.
As it turns out, running a site like this can create burnout. So, just as I passed the baton to Justin a few years back, he has now passed it back to me, and we've come full circle. Over the course of the next few days, I'll endeavour to expand this site to cover all of An Tir once more, and the WMA community in the Northwest as well. And this means I can use the logo I commissioned Lasairiona to make for the site lo those many years ago.
Justin deserves our thanks and kudos for running the nwrapier.com site and expanding the rapier community in An Tir over the past few years.
I've added a Census of Avacal rapier fighters to the Library section. You can get yourself added, or your entry changed, by posting in this forum thread.
I have added a page of Event Reports from Avacal rapier fighters. For each event it provides a quick overview of what the event was like, so that folks can determine if they'd like to go the event next time. You can find the link in the Library section.
I have added a page of Upcoming Events of interest to the rapier community. For each event it lists location, date, expected turnout of rapier fighters, last year's turnout of rapier fighters, and links to the event copy and the event's forum discussion thread. It's in the Library section.
Don Iain has kindly donated the WS and Cadet listings he compiled a couple of years back. So there's now a detailed (but a bit outdated) listing of An Tir's White Scarves and their Cadets available, with photos. If you know of any changes or additions that need to be made, please let me know in the forums. Update: Sebastien gave me the missing WS names. So the list should be accurate now. Update #2: I've added a text-only version of the list.
Welcome back to rapier.avacal.org! Back in the day, I ran this site as the community site for rapier combat in An Tir. Eventually, I burned out on rapier, and passed the torch to Justin Greywolf, who moved the site to nwrapier.com and changed the software from php-nuke to some weird MS-only package. That site still exists today, but it lacks a lot of the features of the old rapier.avacal.org site, and Justin has been seeking someone to take over and try to liven things up. I've recently become active in rapier again (thanks in no small part to my meddling cadets). So, on a whim, I thought I'd recreate the old site from scratch (since I passed all the files along and didn't keep a copy). This is that attempt. I'll add content over the next week or so, and see if anyone cares to drop by. Note that I will be keeping the focus of this site on SCA Rapier in the Principality of Avacal, so as not to step on Justin's toes with the NW Rapier site.
It turns out I still have most of the pictures that used to be on the old site. I don't know who uploaded them, or even what they're of in some cases. But I'll add them to the site over the course of this week. If you recognize the events, people, or such, let me know in the forums, and I'll label them correctly. Alternatively, contact me on the forums if you want a photo gallery account so that you can comment on pictures using the gallery software.
